Efficiency Is In My DNA

Does anyone else reorganize the dirty dishes in the dishwasher after somebody else loads it? No? Just me? Ok…

I feel like this scene is a microcosm into my entire life - my personality, the very fibers of my being. I honestly just can’t help myself. (Just ask my husband!) The thought of running the dishwasher without it being fully loaded (to my standards) drives me a little batty - because then there are leftover dishes in the sink that need to be washed by hand and that’s just not efficient, or enjoyable.

My all-time favorite boss once told me, “you have really high standards - for yourself and for other people.” I had honestly never thought about it before but he was right. I can probably attribute much of that to my childhood. I had two working parents who did everything they could to provide for me and my sister, and we were always expected to pull our weight around the house - cleaning the house, doing dishes, stacking firewood for the long winter months. I learned self-discipline at a young age and it stuck with me.

Having high standards is probably why I always strive to do things as efficiently as possible. If I can get something done faster or more efficiently, then I have more time and energy to do other things…which makes me more productive and allows me to achieve more! I guess maybe it’s a little bit of a vicious cycle.

The thing is, for as long as I can remember, I have always been striving to do better and achieve more. Earning my MBA while working full-time, having a side hustle along with a full-time time job, working toward the next promotion, taking marketing certification courses, starting a mommy blog, reading self-help books rather than fictitious novels…the list goes on. It’s in my DNA to want more and do more and work as hard as I can to get there. (I know this because my sister is very similar. 😉)

So while I’ve worked in the field of marketing for over 10 years (and still continue to do so), I’ve come to realize that underneath all of the marketing functions I work on with my clients, I'm still very much rooted in the principles of efficiency and productivity. I enjoy implementing systems and processes to make my client's lives easier and their marketing operations run more smoothly.

I've also come to realize how much I genuinely want to help women entrepreneurs. I love being my own boss and if I can help another woman be even more successful in her own business, what a wonderful gift that could be!

So, with all these newfound revelations, I'm intentionally going down this path that will combine my marketing experience, my inherent drive in the areas of efficiency and continuous improvement and an intrinsic desire to help women entrepreneurs.
